The story begins with a sudden explosion at Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Children which was initially perceived among the X-men to be an attempted attack by an unknown assailant, targeted at telepaths, particularly involving Professor X and Jean Grey, who consequently go missing in the immediate aftermath. The team has gone their separate ways and many of them have withered in their faith towards a stable universe. One year after the incident, the Mutant Response Division begins tot capture mutants from all over the country and isolates them on the Island.
